With the men’s spring 2027 shows officially in the rearview mirror, it’s time to step back and see where the dust has settled. While we admit that it’s harder and harder, in our digital, everything-everywhere-all-at-once age, to suss out trends, larger pictures certainly do emerge.

Through the hazy heat of the European shows, threads and through lines started to weave themselves into the collection and amid the endless suits and shorts and lightweight jackets and jaunty hats, organizing principles began to coalesce. Perhaps it was a bit of sunshine-y yellow to help counterbalance drearier world events or the embrace of big, baggy, below-the-knee shorts (you heard it here first). Louche tailoring? Check. Twisted takes on denim? Why, yes! An emphasized waist? Mm-hm! Oh, and why not finish it all off with a big ol’ brooch? We got you!

In other words, designers leaned into subtle yet substantial ways to add flair, excitement, and individuality to your summer 2027 outfits. Without further ado, here are the 12 men’s trends we saw on the runways and suspect will be all over the streets (and your social media feeds) in the very near future.

Rise of the Beach Rat

While prep has been coursing through the men’s fashion system for a few seasons now, its wayward beachy cousin has stepped into the spotlight. Who doesn’t want to lay by the ocean or catch a wave? Now, you can definitely look like you do.

Denim With a Twist

While they never quite go away, jeans have taken a backseat to the formal trouser over the past few seasons. No more. Designers are amping up their denim designs—bedazzling, bleaching, distressing, and more.

Mellow (And Not-So-Mellow) Yellow

Be the little ray of sunshine that you are in these lemony shades. A perfect antidote to a gloomy world.

The Long and Short of It

We told you—big shorts, they’re happening. Not only were they spotted on the runways, but they made a strong appearance in front rows.

The Skinny Jean Returns

A small but powerful movement is gaining momentum: the rise of the body-hugging, form-fitting skinny jean. Once banished to the outer regions of the fashion world, expect to see much more in the coming months with co-signs by Prada and Celine (not to mention one of its originators, Acne Studios).

Dainty Little Shoes

While the male ballet flat trend isn’t new, per se, we’re seeing it evolved and adapt, much like a pathogen. There were the smooshed little monkstraps at Celine, ankle lace-up slippers at Dries Van Noten, dainty opera pumps at Ralph Lauren, and many more.

Brooch-ing the Subject

An important theme of the spring 2027 men’s season was little accessories that make a big impact. The brooch, in particular, is still going strong. From small dangling jewels at Dolce & Gabbana to scarves at Sacai to floral explosions at Dior Men, it’s an easy and elegant way to add some punch to an outfit.

Three-Button Suit Jackets

Long the redheaded stepchild of the tailoring world, the three-button blazer is working its way back into the menswear mix. With its elongated torso, it creates a more formal, unexpected look, and can be worn from dressy to casual. In the staid, slow-moving world of suiting, it was just the little shake-up we needed.

Getting Waist-ed

From cummerbunds to scarves tied around the hips to rope and drawstring details, there was a noted emphasis on drawing attention to a man’s midsection. Of course, the waistline can be an easy focal point to create a silhouette, and it’s a way to visually break up an outfit into parts. But designers, with their thoughtful interventions, made it all about expressing individuality and style. Here are the best ways to get that waist in check.

The Visible Boxer

Underwear as outerwear is nothing new, but we’ve rarely seen so many boxers peaking out of waistbands. And as the heatwave wore on … it didn’t seem like a bad idea to strip down and show off what lies beneath.

Just Add a Scarf!

Is there anything easier than adding a scarf to an outfit? It instantly gives your look a bit of color, texture, and unexpected drama. From side-tied silks to knit handkerchiefs to tightly-wrapped neck ties, the fashion world went all-in on the humble foulard this season.

Soupy, Swishy Suiting

The legacy of Mr. Armani continues with an emphasis on breezily-cut, elegantly draped tailoring. A new generation of men are embracing suits with a easier, freer silhouettes and a lightness of fabric. The result is casual yet composed, sophisticated yet cool. Best of all, there were plenty to choose from on the runway.

Bonus: Collaborations of the Season

We love nothing more than an iconic link-up, and beyond men’s trends, the spring 2027 collections provided collabs in spades. Here’s a quick sampling of some of our favorite partnerships from the recent men’s runways.
