Dennis Quaid is making another major life change as the Hollywood veteran takes steps to permanently distance himself from Los Angeles.

Dennis Quaid has officially put another chapter of his Los Angeles life behind him after listing his Brentwood mansion for $5.2 million.

The actor purchased the five-bedroom property for $3.9 million in 2017 and has since carried out extensive renovations, with the home now boasting an updated design, outdoor entertainment space, and sweeping hillside views.

The report noted that the listing comes years after Quaid and his wife, Laura Savoie, relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, while keeping the California home. If sold at the asking price, the actor would make roughly $1.3 million more than he originally paid for the property.

The sale also moves Quaid into the list of celebrities who are walking out of L.A. Others who have opted to live outside Hollywood in recent years were highlighted by The Daily Mail, including Mark Wahlberg, Hilary Swank, Joe Rogan and Nikki Glaser.

The home sale follows Quaid’s recent comments about why he chose to leave Los Angeles after spending decades in Southern California. Speaking during CMA Fest, the actor said the city had “gone downhill” and criticized what he described as high taxes without adequate public services.

Quaid also reflected on the 2025 wildfires, saying the disaster exposed deeper problems within the city and left many residents frustrated. Although he hopes Los Angeles can recover, he admitted he believes something has changed about the community that once made it one of Hollywood’s most desirable places to live.

Despite his criticism, Quaid made it clear he still holds affection for the city that shaped much of his career. He said Los Angeles was once a “fantastic town” with a strong sense of community and expressed hope that it can one day regain what made it special.

Although Los Angeles shaped much of his career, Dennis Quaid has embraced a different pace of life since relocating to Nashville with his wife, Laura Savoie. As reported by The Blast, the actor said the city reminds him of his Texas roots and has allowed him to reconnect with his longtime passion for music.

Quaid has revealed his plan to produce a gospel album of classic songs and new compositions, he said. He revealed that one of the songs, “On My Way to Heaven,” was written many years ago for his mother and influenced the direction of the project.

Though more inclined towards music, Quaid isn’t planning to bid adieu to acting. The veteran star is also looking forward to what’s next, as he proves that moving to Tennessee hasn’t slowed his career one bit.

Dennis Quaid has also been working to bring one of his longest-running legal obligations to a close. The Blast noted that the actor recently asked a judge to officially end his child support payments now that his 18-year-old twins, Zoe and Thomas, have graduated from high school.

According to court documents, Quaid is presently paying his former wife, Kimberly Buffington, a base child support amount of $13,750 per month, with additional payments if he earns more than a specified amount each year. The actor also asked that income support be restricted to the period until his children finish school.

The request may mark the last sign of a financial deal that’s been in effect since the couple’s divorce in 2018. If the decision goes into effect, Quaid will no longer be responsible for any monthly child support payments after almost 10 years.

Quaid’s move away from Los Angeles also came alongside a new chapter in his personal life. According to PEOPLE, the actor has been married four times. This includes his high-profile marriage to Meg Ryan, with whom he has a son, Jack Quaid, and his 12-year marriage to Kimberly Buffington, the mother of his twins, Thomas and Zoe.

The actor’s divorce from Buffington was finalized in 2018, and later, he found love with Laura Savoie. The pair was engaged in 2019, and they secretly eloped in California the next year. Quaid has often referred to their relationship as the best partnership he has ever known, despite their 39-year age gap.

Now, the couple owns Bonniedale Films together while continuing to work in Tennessee, a far cry from Hollywood.
