Mary in the Junkyard Unveils New Single and Tour Plans

London-based trio Mary in the Junkyard is stirring excitement with the release of their latest track, "New Muscles," which serves as a teaser for their upcoming debut album, "Role Model Hermit," set to hit shelves on July 3rd. This new single follows their previous releases, "Crash Landing" and "Candelabra," marking it as the third glimpse into what fans can expect from the forthcoming project. The track is a vibrant blend of hypnotic rhythms, driven by drummer David Addison’s dynamic percussion. Accompanying the release is a whimsical music video directed by bassist and viola player Saya Barbaglia, featuring a dramatic boxing match between her and bandmate Clari Freeman-Taylor. It’s an ambitious endeavor that both musicians fully committed to, spending a year training in Muay Thai for the video’s intense fight scenes. The band humorously notes the video reflects a lighter side—“New Muscles” was inspired by David's new fitness journey, initially composed on the accordion. But the excitement doesn’t stop at the single. Mary in the Junkyard has also just announced an extensive 2026 tour across the UK, Europe, and North America. Following some co-headlining shows in Los Angeles with Dove Ellis at the end of May, the group will perform a series of intimate in-store gigs in July, culminating in a full-fledged headline tour starting in the autumn.
